Anthony Michaels, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized leader in sustainability, innovation, and environmental science across multiple business sectors and academic fields. He is the co-founder and managing director of Proteus Environmental Technologies. Prior leadership roles include CEO of Midwestern BioAg, a leader in soil health and sustainable agriculture, chief scientist at Pegasus Capital Advisors, president of ReCommunity Energy, and CEO of PhycoSystems. Academic roles include being the founding director of the USC Wrigley Institute, professor at the University of Southern California, and board roles at the Global Council for Science and the Environment and Global Institute on Sustainability at Arizona State University.
Michaels was educated at the University of California, San Diego, the University of Arizona (bachelor's degree, master's degree) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (doctoral degree). In the past 30 years, he has published 100 scholarly papers. Michaels currently resides in both Madison, Wisconsin, and Los Angeles, California, with his wife, Claire.
