Maria Lonnberg is the senior program director at GCSE. In this position, she leads the development of new, primarily international, programs. Prior to her current position, Maria worked as the science and innovation officer at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC, where she connected US and Swedish interests in higher education, research, and innovation. Her previous experiences include serving as the executive director at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Washington DC, working in various business development positions for Ericsson in Stockholm, Dallas, and Silicon Valley and for a US start up, and working as an research & development engineer at Sandvik. Maria thrives when connecting people and working at intersections between fields, such as between academia and government.
Maria has spent 25+ years in the US. She has also lived in Beijing, China, where she was a board member at International School of Beijing, ISB. She holds a master of science degree in Engineering Physics from the Royal institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and a master of business administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
