The Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) is a nongovernmental organization established in 1990 that advances the use of science to inform environmental decision-making. The work of GCSE spans boundaries between science and decision-making to strengthen the impact of durable solutions to environmental challenges. GCSE engages scientists, educators, policymakers, business leaders, and officials at all levels of government. GCSE was formerly the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE). Position Description
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Membership, the Program Associate will support GCSE communications, events, and membership in all ways needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Communications and Events
- Support events and communications to increase membership engagement and satisfaction.
- Support webinars and in-person meetings to engage the GCSE community of scientists, educators, policymakers, business leaders, and officials at all levels of government
- Support efforts to exchange knowledge and facilitate networking between institutes of higher education and decision makers including the operation and growth of an online collaborative platform
- Research and develop content for member communications
- Contribute to the design and planning of new programs
Membership
- Support membership work through database administration, event support, communications, and membership retention
- Support monthly tracking and annual reporting to track membership growth and engagement
- Coordinate and support membership materials and communications
- Ensure data quality, with up-to-date contact information and critical data points
- Employ contemporary outreach methods
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in program administration and membership development
- Skilled in Google Apps, SalesForce, database management, and graphic design with a high level of general computer competency
- Excellent communication skills and organized thinker
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects
- Ability to work independently, enthusiastically, dynamically, and with flexibility
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Must be located near or in the Washington D.C. metro area, or willing to relocate.
Salary
Commensurate with experience.
