Jeffrey Seay, P.E., PhD, is a professor of chemical engineering and the PJC Board of Trustees Engineering Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Paducah Extended Campus Program. He is also the President and Founder of Empowered Solutions for Environmental Sustainability, a nonprofit organization focused on helping local communities in developing countries take control of their plastic waste management challenges. Professor Seay also holds an appointment as visiting professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. His research focuses on developing sustainable, renewable energy and waste plastic management solutions for underdeveloped regions, particularly sub-Saharan Africa. Professor Seay is the chair of the AIChE Topical Conference on Waste Plastic, a member of the Managing Board of the AIChE Institute for Sustainability (IfS), and a member of the editorial board of Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy. He is a past chair of the AIChE Sustainable Engineering Forum (SEF), past vice chair of the SEF, past chair of the SEF Education Committee, and past programming chair of the AIChE Environmental Division. Seay has a BS from Auburn Univ., an MS from the Univ. of South Alabama, and a PhD from Auburn Univ., all in chemical engineering.
