Position Description

The Program Associate will work closely with and report to the Executive Director to support her and the work of the Office of the Executive Director.  The Office of the Executive Director spans all programs and initiatives across the organization, and works with stakeholders at all levels including though not limited to senior executives and leaders at multilateral institutions and in government, administrators, faculty and students at universities, colleges and community colleges, and experts and leaders across sectors. 
 

Primary Responsibilities

Office of the Executive Director

  • Work on projects directly with the Executive Director as agreed upon that may include research, writing, public speaking (in person or on webinars/video)
  • Support programs under the oversight of the Executive Director
  • Support communication efforts ranging from proposals to social media
  • Provide administrative support ranging from follow up emails to report writing
  • Participate in meetings and calls, as needed to record notes and support follow up
  • Manage calendar and schedule for the Executive Director
  • Support Board of Directors under the direction of the Executive Director
  • Support the development and implementation of administrative processes and procedures
  • Serve as Google Administrator in maintaining organizational accuracy of files, users, groups, etc. and troubleshoot issues that arise with Google Suite
  • Track GCSE donations
  • Support miscellaneous needs in direct consultation with Executive Director
  • Assist in planning staff retreats and other staff events
  • Assist with recruitment of staff, applicant correspondence, interviews, personnel onboarding process and related paperwork

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, policy, or related area
  • Master’s degree preferred in science, policy, or related area
  • 3 to 5 years of project management and development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable, organized, and be able to work independently 
  • Comfortable taking initiative and ownership of projects
  • Outgoing and team-oriented nature with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Skilled in Google Apps, SalesForce, database management, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Must be located near or in the Washington D.C. metro area

Commensurate with experience.
