Allyson Garrido is a freshman at the University of Central Florida studying environmental science. Her research, “A Comparative Analysis of NFT Systems and Hydroponic Container Farming,” explores how innovative hydroponic methods can address agricultural challenges intensified by climate change. She has conducted fieldwork in the Florida Everglades with the Miccosukee Environmental Protection Agency, collaborated with Florida International University and the University of Florida on sustainable agriculture projects, and presented her findings at the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress. Allyson is also an incoming board member of the Association of Environmental Professionals at UCF, where she will lead community-based initiatives promoting sustainable farming practices.
