He currently serves as a Knowledge Translation Scientist - One
Health & Climate Change and Co-Manager of the CIHR Knowledge Mobilization Hub at the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases
(NCCID), University of Manitoba, in Canada. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) and
a Scientific and Technical Consultant for the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change
Research (IAI).
His research and practice focus on health policy, climate change and health, and health equity among underserved and minority populations.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dunbar has led and co-led projects in Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean that bridge research and policy, including regional early warning systems for climate-sensitive diseases, vector-borne disease prevention and control programs, outbreak response guidelines, and transdisciplinary research agendas. These initiatives have informed public health decision-making and attracted direct investments in equity strategies.
He is an author and co-author of multiple peer-reviewed publications, a reviewer for leading journals, and a frequent contributor to policy reports and technical guidance. He has also served as lecturer, PhD co-advisor, and course developer, and he remains an active member of several professional associations and international boards.
The driving force behind his career is a commitment to improving outcomes for populations that conventional public health interventions have historically overlooked.
